SySDSoft Announces Availability of Release 3 Licensable MAC-Layer for WiMAX Mobile Stations

SySDSoft, a leading provider of embedded software for the wireless broadband market, announced the completion of Release 3 of the 802.16e mobile station (MS) medium access control (MAC) solution. This release comprises additional features such as MIMO, HARQ, FBSS, MBS, and extending the classification sublayer to include ROHC/ECRTP.

The release also includes power management features such as Sleep Mode, and Idle Mode in addition to full Security Sublayer support. It also supports UGS, eRTPS, IPv6 classification, CQICH, Fast Tracking, Fast Ranging, among many advanced features. The release has also been optimized for speed and memory usage and updated with modification in the IEEE 802.16e Cor2/D3.
SySDSoft MAC highlights:

Portable to a multitude of processor cores; such as ARM (including OMAP and Intel XScale) and PowerPC.
Fully tested on ARM9, Intel XScale, and OMAP platforms.
Complete independence on operating system through an abstraction layer to support different RTOSs.

The release has been thoroughly tested to achieve compliance with the WiMAX/ETSI protocol conformance testing specifications. SySDSoft offers its WiMAX Wave-2, Cor2/D3-compliant MAC IP to chip manufacturers and OEMs/ODMs. A reference design kit and technical support are immediately available to companies wishing to incorporate a WiMAX MAC solution into their integrated system-on-chip (SoC) or to port it onto their dedicated hardware.
