SySDSoft's multi-hop wireless sensor networks (WSN) protocol defines Transport, Network and MAC Layers for three types of network devices: Network Coordinators, Routers and End Devices. The protocol satisfies the key requirements for wireless sensor networks; namely, long battery life, low cost, small footprint, and support of communication between a large number of devices in a multi-application environment. The protocol spans several applications including home automation, building automation and industrial plant monitoring.

Protocol Features

  • Architecture follows the OSI model
  • Star, Mesh, and Cluster-Tree topologies to support low latency applications and to grant high reliability, scalability, and self-healing
  • Self-configuring capabilities
  • Single/multiple applications support
  • CSMA-CA based MAC
  • Network proactively detects and overcomes interference
  • Allows devices to connect and disconnect from the network dynamically
  • Optimized for small footprint and extended battery life
  • "Device Discovery" service to allow mutual discovery of devices of the same applications in the network
  • Broadcast/multicast services
  • Device roaming
  • Sleep mode support to extend End Device battery life
